In tandem with the corporate catering business, the Sulzbacher Culinary Arts Program launched one year later, again in partnership with Metropolitan Ministries — creating a pathway for motivated adults to gain hands-on food service training and marketable culinary skills. This 15-week program offers 12 weeks of hands-on training in a real business, paired with classroom instruction from a dedicated chef instructor. At the end of the 12 weeks, students enter a 3-week paid externship with a local restaurant. Every student who has completed the externship has been offered a position with the restaurant they trained with. Worked with the chef instructor to have the program’s curriculum certified through the American Culinary Federation (ACF).
